i did quick research on a book from the 60's. Still with same electrical consumption figure, I.e. 6.5 Wh/g.

definitely the power consumption will be higher cost than labour, mice. and consumables.

do we have a high voltage power line across the highway?

look like electrowinning is just electroplating, similar principle on how batteries work, applying electricity to move metal ions around between cathode and anodes. Simple.

the recovery seems to be 80% on the leaching (dissolution with acid) and another 70%-80% for the electrolysis, so 60% overall.

book is old, I read about newer systems using cylinder instead of plates which are more efficient for the "winning" process. Will be winning?

below my rough calcs on EMM production and energy requirements.

I understand EMN will make 50,000 tn/year of EMM to satisfy 50% of europe demand by 2025. We could do 180,000 tn/year.

would we be shifting fully into EMM you reckon? That's where better margin is.

Energy wise, we might need over 260MW nominal capacity. That's quite a few solar panels Gas turbine perhaps? Available power lines by the highway?

link to the easy to watch EMM you tube video, even if you don't know much of chemistry, quite cool :
