I think pricing the IPO accurately is a good way to start. Better to ask for what you really need to meet your vision for the company, than to keep coming back asking for more. This may be difficult for a startup in some industries (tech and mining come to mind), but not in the one OSX is in. That's what CEOs and boards are paid to do.
