85% GM came from the CEO in a conference call, that's why I used it.
2/3 is what they are targeting so it was the upper limit of a valuation & using a low PE suggests a flatline of growth.
I agree re PE to a certain extent but it's all to do with market sentiment, some shares become insanely popular due to relatively uneducated investors who have no idea of fundamentals jumping on a bandwagon. APT is an example of that IMO.
IMO PEs on the majority of shares at the moment are too high due to an overvalued market
What I know from my 35 years of investing is that fundamentals endure in the long run so you buy quality at a price you believe is reasonable & sell when you believe overpriced.
The measure & timescale is up to you & what you feel comfortable using.
PEs have served me well but I do admit to having difficulty valuing software & tech companies.
There are many ways to making money in the markets, stick with what works for you IMO.
