    Hi Hummms.

    Dave's reply to my question is as follows;

    RE: Spent Pickle Liquor Market
    Response from Dave Sammut, Intec Ltd

    Hi Mango,

    There are a couple of important points here. Firstly, there is no rivalry between Austpac and Intec. Over time, we have happily chatted with senior Austpac representatives at a range of industry functions, and have even had a sit-down meeting where we expressed the principle that if an opportunity comes up for us to cooperate we would like to do so.

    One of the reasons that both companies can easily afford such an amicable approach is that there is very little cross-over in our technologies and targets. Neither is substantially threatened by the other. In the case of spent pickle liquor, the primary steel industry in Australia produces lots of relatively 'clean' iron-bearing liquor that is much more interesting to Austpac than it is to Intec, while the galvanising industry produces lots of zinc-bearing liquor that is more interesting to Intec than Austpac. Add to that the regionality of the market, and you don't leave a lot of reason for rivalry.

    We wish Michael Turbott and his team at Austpac every success, and we believe that this sentiment is reciprocated.

    Mango's sign-off is Cheers.
