There has been no new tracking information received from any ships in the Koolan Island area for about 7 hours.
Unlike the East Coast, where there are land based receiving stations all over the place and the coverage is quite comprehensive and overlapping, it is pretty sparse on the West Coast.
Normally the signals from ships in the Koolan area are relayed from Ground Station 808, which appears to be on the large oil and gas rig "Ichthys Explorer". This rig is about 200 km offshore from Koolan, serving the Browse Basin. 808 appears to be offline at present and not relaying data into the system. The next nearest ground receiver, at Broome, is too far away to pick up signals from the Koolan Island area.
Anyway, most larger ships also use satellites to send their position data. I used to receive satellite tracking data from ships to my ship tracking program, aome years ago, but this data has been 'monetised' and my tracking program now wants several thousand dollars per year to send it to me. Unfortunately not worth it for this limited use. If anyone has a different program or access level that can see what's happening over in Yampi Sound in real time, then please post that data here.
