Hey String,
Great find mate. A massive part of C4V is collaboration between academia and private sector as well as supply chain efficiencies and reliabilities.
my takeaway: This article emphasises this point and shows how important bridging the gap between research and commercialisation is.
For those unclear, this is essentially a research grant with collaboration between labs and manufacturing.
The proposed IM3 battery factory in New York is being established utilising C4V IP. IM3NY is however not restricted by this and can utilise other chemistries and IP in their manufacturing (with approvals). This agreement expands future productivity potential for iM3NY and allows clear pathways for future IP (whether produced by C4V or another organisation) to be utilised by iM3 and reduce the risk of the future projects and expansions as well as expand their product offerings.
It will be interesting to see how any progressions made by this collaboration will be patented and ownership allocations assigned. Still plenty of time until final outcome and C4V continuing research on their own IP for Cathode and Anode Chemistry.
For those interested, Primet Precision has IP regarding electrolyte nano-tech and is also a minority owner of im3ny.
That is my very quick and unresearched takeaway, so I may be wrong. Please correct me if this is the case
