The sulphide plant as I understand still needs considerable refurbishment -but would be suitable with some modifications for Carlow Castle ore. Presumably if a large ore system was proven it would probably justify a complete new larger plant . The Gekko plant though is brand new -a state of the art gravity gold plant about 500,000 tpa designed and installed to process the conglomerates. I understand that it is complete - would need confirmation.
When Novo trial their ore sorters and finally admit there is no continuity of gold in conglomerates at Purdy's and Comet Well and walk away from the proposition there is "billions of ozs of gold over thousands of sq km" there is real potential to utilise the Gekko plant -as originally planned - to recover significant amounts of gold by gravity separation from the core discovery areas. Plus as Willscott will attest many more very viable small orebodies with significant tonnages of gravity recoverable gold for which the Gekko plant is designed. Its state of the art in gravity separation which will recover all the coarse gold at Purdy's and Comet Well far more effectively than ore sorters.
Even small orebodies like Weerianna could be mined for their gravity gold content. But it all sits there with fragmented ownerships and bitter infighting - a brand new plant sitting idle that could be producing with practical hands on operators $25-50 million in gold a year -at very low cash costs -from the multitude of small high grade ore systems- whilst ARV and Novo do what most listed juniors do -chase their dreams of multi million oz discoveries.
