They do. It's not my cup of tea but one of the guys who is a member at Brookwater here in Brisbane turns over $200M a year on the races via Tabcorp and Tassie Tote using an automated program that uses the Betfair market as the real market. The machine bets for him 7 days a week. He basically breaks even for the year BUT because he's a big player on the totes, he gets a 4% rebate on turnover (the big players always get the breaks). 4% of $200M equals $8M. Not bad but I guess he's just lucky.
Horses for courses and sure beats going to a day job. I'm nowhere near that level on the stockmarket (not even remotely close)but I'm happy with my situation and lifestyle.
