@picastoc - You were right to 'tire of it all' - it is so unlike what the real J.C.'s message is - IMO only, of course: It got all mis-construed, confabulated etc.etc. I remember a book of fiction, which was made into a film; the Da Vinci Code, where Jesus was supposed to have been married to Mary Magdalen etc. and there were many breakaway sects, who were persecuted by the Pope and Crusaders (Cathars) and they had fairly basic beliefs all to do with kindness; some believing Jesus and Mary Magdalen had settled in the South of France. However, the basic message is still a wonderful one and worth repeating - to me it is the Sermon of the Mount - in Matthew (chapters 5-7) where Jesus asks of us to love our fellow humans as we love ourselves and even love our enemies and to show respect. He admonishes us to do good deeds and to help one another, and especially to help the disadvantaged and the weak.
I watched a program last night where a former police officer, a woman, with an Aboriginal background, was very carefully and almost in a resigned voice explaining the strong racism which is still shown to our Aboriginal brothers and sisters and even to her by her colleagues when she was an active police officer. She seemed a very reasonable and nice woman and i almost felt like hugging her, it was so sad.
so much to do, so little time -
The religious thread is at times a classic on exactly what one should not do - I think - there us much vanity involved in showing the other fellow: "I am right and you are wrong!" go well Taurisk
