I find precious metals quite interesting (how the elements react and what makes them special), the more i read about it, the more interesting it gets.
I always thought platinum and palladium were a class of white gold with primary applications in jewellery crafting. Little did I know that actual white gold is a mixture of gold/nickel or palladium or silver (rose gold is actually a mixture with copper), and the history and application of each precious metal can be quite distinct.
My initial intention was to gain a better understanding about the historical significance of gold and why the demand for it has persevered through time. The more I read, the more I learned about its comparisons with other commodities of trade, it gets fascinating. Check it out.
