The correct response to the GFC would have been a period of deleveraging & creative destruction, and a comprehensive overhaul of the investment banks and their malign influence over the US (and global) monetary policy and financial system.
Instead we've seen interest rate manipulation plus debt, debt, and more debt, plus QE ('money printing') etc etc etc.
