It raised a lot of interesting points that I'll get to in subsequent posts.
The one that really surprises me is the amount of money that the fossil companies give to the two major parties. $5-6 million allegedly. I've heard this figure reported several times and apparently it's quite well known.
What a bargain that is for them ! That's a pittance and they supposedly have so much influence over the politicians because of it ???
The Grattan Institute has just released a report on a 2050 net zero emission power generation. They argue that a 90% target by 2040 is a better option which is easily doable. The last 10% is the hard bit although the technology should be able to do the job when we get there according to Grattan.

Either way, the argument for massively increasing gas production doesn't seem to make sense.
I liked when the bloke said " If you get a bunch of carpenters together, they'll suggest that we start building houses ".
A very good analogy I think.
