I think there is a beat-up element to Ms Holgate.... she's playing the mental illness card pretty hard and the reference to medication is, it turns out, a safe and light-weight sleep medication - not an antidepressant.
When someone says they were "suicidal" its always best to take them at their word --- for safety sake if nothing else. Casting doubt on the complaint only serves to increase the risk. but it seems more like she's ticking off boxes in her general complaint - pushing buttons and pulling levers.
On the whole though she sure does present a major problem for the Govt. Many women, imo, would be supportive of her, though there would likely be many who would deride her for the reasons I mention above, and others.
Its certainly a beat-up when M. went ballistic in parliament. an obvious distraction from the complaints of Govt problems at the time.
