ASX updates that list every day. Annoyingly, you can't view previous days. But, having watched the last 4 days, the number of short shares sold has declined each day from ~100K 4 days ago to only 7K sold short yesterday.

Shortman has the total short data, but it's on a 4 day lag-time. The precipitous drop in short shares from Tuesday last week came during the 12% run-up. Shorts had to close their positions out at a huge loss or risk an even bigger loss.


As to shorts being good or bad, depends on how you look at it. If a lot of short positions are outstanding and there's a sudden run-up they can add to the rocket (like last Tuesday). On the other hand, the fact that basically no one wants to sell short right now is a sign that short's are scared of being caught in another bear trap.
