(First up - thank you to all who have continued to post through this long suspension & gltah).
As a number of posters have touched on, perhaps being stuck in suspension will one day prove to be a blessing. Hopefully, that day is getting closer.
The Coinbase Nasdaq listing shows where there is a will, there's a way, with meeting audit & listing requirements and setting prices for crypto based stocks.
OliveX seems to meet the listing requirements of the NSX without much trouble (NSX - OLX).
So there's hope that AB1 & its shareholders could take heart from this.
What I found really interesting about the Coinbase listing this week, was that it was a Direct Listing, which should not be confused with an IPO listing or SPACs.
In essence the existing shareholders of the unlisted Coinbase, were able to set a market for their shareholding. In essence this makes the listing a "liquidity event", as no capital is raised.
Just prior to listing on the Nasdaq a reference price is set. The reference price is partly determined by past transactions of Coinbase shares on private exchanges, as well as input from investment bankers close to the listing time.
This first article is quite good as it outlines many distinctions of the Coinbase listing and the benefits of a direct listing.
The second article reinforces many aspects of the first article.
As you can see, it's possible to draw a number of analogies with AB1 & Coinbase with a view to listing.
We've seen via PM that AB1 has to approve share sales and in recent times the surge in prices hints at something unfolding in the background. There also appears to be more media about AB1. These direct listings offer tech companies a way to list with minimal dilution, cost and input from investment bankers. Once they are listed, companies can then seek to raise capital via CRs in due course.
Companies like Coinbase & Spotify show there is a clear way forward to list via a direct listing, when companies are ready and willing to do so.
Anyway, here's to keeping the faith in the interim.
