China May iron ore imports up 25 pct on year to 55.5 mln t, ministry
China imported 55.5 million tons of iron ore in May, up 25 percent over the same period last year, the Ministry of Transportation (MOT) said on its official website Tuesday.
China's iron ore imports reached 57 million tons in April.
According to MOT, the country's iron ore imports in January-May totaled 258 million tons, up four million tons over the first half of last year.
Iron ore stocks at Chinese major ports now surpass 60 million tons, said MOT.
