I asked Mark at one of the presentations how close HX could build to itself. He said "quite close".
I suspect that the redesign of the boom will also allow the HX to build even closer to itself. I can imagine that with the boom in bent positions, it would be difficult for the larger blocks to get around the bends in the boom with the blocks going internally inside the boom.
