Maybe I should put it this way...
In this industry, and others like it (e.g. most Engineering type roles and companies) the demand for the very best is incredibly high, and these kinds of individuals can pretty much walk in and say what they'd like to be earning and under what conditions, and they'll get it.
That is something we must compete with, and furthermore, if those individuals then feel like it is definitely within their interests to do the very best work they have ever done... well then that is something I believe we need to inspire them to do also.
At the end of the day, the talent of our Engineers, Executive, etc. is what will make or break us. Without that perfect mix of ingredient, we will be overtaken by someone else, maybe a company with shareholders who "get" it (e.g. in US... funnily enough, a market we are heavily competing with) - however long our current head-start may be.
