"Other companies are touting anode material but it needs to be processed further before it's ready to go into a battery."
The blue sky outlook for Talga would mean not only using their own graphite from Nunasavaara, but actually buying flake graphite on the open market and profiting on the refining end. Given how difficult it is to get through the testing process (this is a multi-year obstacle TLG is working through right now - but in the future it will act as a major barrier to entry for competition), I don't think it's that far-fetched of a possibility. It would likely be more economical for graphite miners to sell the graphite concentrate to a refinery than expend the resources necessary to build an end to end anode operation. I see this as more likely if the U.K. pilot plant goes forward.
