Its an interesting intersection of competing interests:
A Goldman Sachs private equity fund still owns 19.9% of HPEQ from the IPO.
MND have their stake
Maui have their stake - Paul Chrystal (sp?) is attached to Maui - he is ex GS Private Equity and so was engaged in the original purchase of NFK from Tyco and its subsequent IPO for a 10x gain to the fund.
I presume he see's significant value in NFK in the context of an economic recovery with an added bonus of significant Oz Govt infrastructure spending. Or maybe he sees the chance for a quick buck from some corporate activity - perhaps both Maui and the PE fund sell to MND (which is the natural owner for such a stock) delivering immediate control.
Disclosure - indirect NFK position held thru stake in GS PE fund.
