RIO RUMOURS

Strong rumours are circulating about a new discovery by Rio in the Paterson.

This brings back memories of pre Winu days and the speculation of what, where etc. Onceover was there with this post which is still appropriate until some confirmation or quashing happens. Not a drone but something like it....

I have had a good look at the area of tenements held by Rio in their own right and as non AZY JV's (some methodology for the search in this PDF HAS RIO FOUND SOMETHING.pdf ). Other than Winu and some 8-10 Kms north and south I could not find any detailed, drilling with follow up. In fact 8 holes some 60 Kms WNW were the only others I found.

Aircore drilling is not easy to spot on Sentinel satellite imagery but that is first pass drilling which is extremely unlikely to generate rumours that Rio have found an Olympic Dam Style deposit - presumably in the Paterson.

    Some parameters for "Where's Wally?"
Don't even know if Wally (A new discovery that may be as elusive as this character) is in the Paterson, but if he is then:
    • Has to be on Rio 'controlled' ground.
    • Since it will be undercover it has to be drilled, and probably by at least two or more phases.
    • A reasonable number of holes drilled to give some validity to the rumour (not necessary but likely).
    • Such detail drilling is likely to be visible on some of the frequent Sentinel satellite imagery.
The area I will call Winu South, about 8 Kms south, ?along strike, of Winu fits the above criteria and then some IMO.
It could be part of a very large system (probably similar to Winu) which IMO is much more likely to be the reason Olympic Dam is mentioned rather than being an IOCG.
IOCG's have been evoked for mineralisation in the Paterson but there is no large scale discovery of one ... yet. Sprott's 2019 Havieron visit generated a useful section in their report as to why Havieron was unlikely to be an IOCG - suspect it may be applicable to much of the Paterson, though it is wise to keep all options on the table.

Too much information found in lock down so here is a PDF to round out this post.

What impact would a major Rio discovery have on the Citadel JV? Good for Rio and any partner involved. However, it could put Citadel on the back burner after 2021 unless there are good results that help Calibre (or ??) stay high in the priority list.
