When new entrants can spin up cloud based banking and broking platforms for a few $m, I'm not entirely sure why many hundreds of $m worth of legacy code are still sitting there for in the first place.
Generally speaking, very little of it is unique or differentiating. Their value is in their existing client base, their brand and associated customer inertia.
