For every drug that has been developed “better” drugs have been later discovered. Of course Bisantrene might be the best possible FTO drug out of all the possible chemical structures imaginable, but I doubt it.
A drug does not need to be the best possible drug to be useful. A good drug that is available now is infinitely better that the perfect drug that is not.
In this particular example “potent" and “specific" are mean the same thing.
