I think you miss the point .
By choosing to continue to use fossil fuels in the areas you've mentioned, we are funding that industry.
If those industries were using renewable power, which some mining operations are moving to, we would be directing our money toward a more sustainable outcome, wouldn't we ?
Or would that be seen as subsidising renewables ?
The more we shift away from existing fossil use . the more that would help speed up Australia's transition away from fossil fuel generally.
I'd say that's a much better use of our money.
