You omitted Portland (Vic), the fourth major GNC port, and also operations in Queensland such as Mackay and Gladstone. The winter Queensland crop however is small compared to NSW and Victoria.
Today there's another loaded grain train operated by Pacific National for GrainCorp that's just departed Warrackside (the handling facility near Warracknabeal, Vic) on the standard gauge Murtoa - Hopetoun branch line. It's likely to be bound for Portland (Vic) rather than North Geelong.
There were hardly any grain trains on the Maroona - Portland line in calendar 2020, at least until November, with one in June 2020 being the sole one recalled. Yet in the last couple of months, many days have seen a grain train, dependant as always on GNC STEM shipping schedules, driven by overseas demand and naturally the availability of bulk ships.
While relatively minor, GNC also opened an inland intermodal port 25 kilometres east of Emerald, Qld in 2019. So it's not as if GNC is neglecting investment.
