Thanks Spec
The sulphide deposit is supposed to have an 8 year mine life if it goes ahead, but there is another 2 or so years of oxide ore to be mined/processed at Simberi, which is currently a high cost (but profitable) operation. You will note that they are quoting the costs/benefits in USDs (a lot of the outlays are in USDs) and while the AISC at a bit under USD1,000 is around the current global industry average it is not going to be a low cost mine. I wish they had provided the estimated post tax NPVs for a range of possible USDPOG, up to 2000 to better promote the project and SBM, rather then then just the conservative estimate based on a USD1500 gold price.
Page 21 of the presentation released by SBM on 15 December 2020 provides a forward profile of production and capex to FY2025, I suggest you check it out. I think the figures for the Simberi capex in that presentation are now out of date given todays announcement.
