A quick look at the ZEROGEN web site (http://www.zerogen.com.au/) highlights some interesting developments.
Firstly ZeroGen Pty Ltd is a wholly state government owned company
Secondly the partners highlighted are:
1.Queensland Government
2. COAL21 Fund - Australian Coal Association
3. Shell
Finally the Stage One implementation incorporates a demonstration-scale IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) power plant with CCS.
Here are the objectives:
• Deployment date: 2012
• 120 megawatt (gross) power plant
• Located near Rockhampton in Central Queensland, Australia
• CO2 captured at site and transported approximately 220kms for storage in deep underground reservoirs in Northern Denison Trough
• Plant will capture up to 75 percent of CO2 for partial sequestration
Will this government company assist CNX or become an irritant?
My feeling is it adds credibility to the process, CNX are more advanced and the market is large enough to support this new industry. Also of course there is every chance that with the Qld government budget problems there is little sense in providing what industry can provide at less cost.
Summary - good news !!
