The primary reason the Queensland Government and Australian Coal Associate (COAL21 Fund) is invested so heavily in ZeroGen is political - because the long-term future of Queensland's coal export industry depends entirely on the demonstration of commercially viable carbon capture and storage technology.
That's not to say ZeroGen is a threat; it's not.
Proof of commercially viable carbon capture and storage would also be in the interests of CNX as it could potentially be applied to capture CO2 from UCG.
