CV I worked at a gold mine in the former russian state of Kyrgystan in 01/02 and whilst that may not seem as remote the Kumtor operation was 4500 above sea level, took about 15 hours to drive there and in winter reached minus 45 degrees. How ever like Greenland they had very little GDP and at the time the gold produce was about all they had. Initally internationals where used from Canada and 2 from Aussie to get the operation up and running and slowly trained the locals to eventually give it back.
From my experience if the good stuff is in the ground your concerns will be insignificant.
