A couple of points.
1. Nearmap didn't buy Pushpin, only their roof measurement technology. One would assume the company had undertaken sufficient DD to ensure the technology they were paying for did not infringe someone else's patents;
2. It is significant that the purchase was for roof measurement technology only as the references to roof reports and the inability to participate in project "Blue Roof" would have required "change detection technology" that Nearmap did not purchase from Pushpin, but Pushpin continues to use. I imagine this technology allows the comparison of before and after images to determine the extent of any damage.
That being said, it stand to reason why "Nearmap admitted it couldn't provide roof reports without infringing Eagleview's technology". It sounds to me that Nearmap were careful enough not to acquire any technology that may have resulted in any debate over patent infringements.
