I think it is more of a demonstration of the capabilities of self-supervised learning which could be a bit of a disruptor in that side of the business in years to come. But any company has disruptors not just APX. Its a small part of their business and may not actually eventuate into much of a reduction in revenues for image/video.
I doubt Facebook would be making it freely available if it were to be revolutionary in regards to reducing costs/big revenue stream.
