i don't think there are any foundries in china currently capable of producing sub 5nm (or sub 7nm?) chips even though the government is throwing large amounts of resources at it. even the larger chips produced in china are having yield issues. i also dont think it makes strategic sense at all for archer to manufacture cutting edge chip tech in china in the future given the geopolitical tensions, current sanctions on microprocessor related exports to chinese companies and threat of IP theft. not that i'm against the chinese having this technology, but they should pay sufficient premium to acquire it or take the long/costly road of developing it themselves (which they are on, but it takes decades to develop and money doesn't solve everything when it comes to building microprocessors). looking at the history of china's attempt to develop latest gen microprocessor fabrication capability is a reminder that archer's 12cq chip is decades away from commercialisation, but each step towards that is a milestone that should increase the share price.
