I read something about this a month or so ago. I don't have the complete article. Someone on HC might.
1. The depth of water in Whyalla waters is very shallow.
2. Renascor has done a $ feasibility for the cost of RoadTransport to get around to Port Adelaide, it's about 4.5 hours, slow and costly.
3. Transport via ship across to Port Adelaide is more cost-efficient and obviously, ships can hold more tonnes of graphite per load.
Then I think they are going to do a short Road trip across the narrow landmass >> then load onto ships again, in the short term
I think there is a lot of future planning along with the SA Gov to develop a Port further South than Whyalla on the Spencer Gulf near Siviour, as an exit point for export for mining mainly. Or improve the facilities at Port Lincoln. I think there would be a lot of SA Government support considering the developing mining resources in SA.
So, for now, it's Port Adelaide.
