Li(OH)2 is different to LiOH in that it has two hydrogen atoms, so process appears hydroxide based - what PLS has committed to is a lithium salt which it defines as an intermediary, which I think is more atune to sulphate as per earlier post.

Anyway, Calix are doing a lot of R&D in the area so looks like they intend seeing how the process works using PLS spodumene by the looks of it. As I said will be interesting how the process works at scale instead of a pilot plant, which I presume is the initial tests. As I said game-changer if tech works for all, but a lot of water still to go under the bridge.
They have their finger in a number of pies trying to devlop low carbon processes in production - here is some others outside batteries:
