Only a few really know who's buying/selling recently, but one plausible explanation,
Combine broker data with tape reading for the last couple weeks and,
- Retail channel and JPM + GMS are the biggest buyers.
- Other assorted instos biggest sellers. (meet targets?)
- (current company situation, results, and pending news taken as read)
- Large % of volume is frequent massive buys (read the tape) - maybe not retail
- Directors not selling to date
So, IMHO large % of buying is less likely to be all retail, and plausibly is 1. Funds and/or 2. BP taking a position for T/O or licensing deal or defense (through retail channel).
