I think the criticism is fair. I have no problem with
it trading below NTA, or even the high fees as
such, but to my mind the manager is not
making the investment decisions that I would
have expected from this type of fund.
I remember the manager saying sometime
ago that intervention from the fed was propping up
stocks prices , artificially, of stocks that they
would normally short and that was making it
difficult for them to execute as per the mandate.
Anyway I sold out of both VG1 and VG8 just
recently. Good luck to holders.
