You are not taking into account the economic argument. If the price difference is anywhere like $3000 - $4000 in cost then buyers will go for the cheaper Matte option because it will mean they can get more profit out of their electric cars. Any energy expenditure can be offset by clean energy which is the next chapter of the Indonesian project.
Nickel Matte provides a huge new supply of Battery Grade product to a market which has excess NPI ready for conversion.
It is a no brainer on the part of Tshingshan to weight the scales in their favour by exploiting excess supply.
