mik01, this is for you (I better say that before someone misunderstand my posts.

"(look buddy, I AGREE with you.
all i said was that punishing MR would achieve nothing for us SH - the 'damage' is done already. )"

That, IMHO, is a defeated's attitude. By agreeing with him in what he has done, you are only promoting the idea that the SH are going to cop it sweet, and will promote others CEO/MD's down the track to pull that stunt again. WRONG MY FRIEND!!
A resounding NO vote, will wake him, (and future ones who wants to do the same), up. He needs a good jolt.

"(and i do think it looks good for the every day investor who is thinking about throwing their hard earned into AIO that the CEO is up to it past his eyeballs.)"

That doesn't mean anything. He now will have control of the Copmany and we SH will only have to rely on him to make his mind up, if and when he wants to sell, and be at his mercy.
What happened last year when he knocked back the offer?? Any proponent of a full TO does not want anyone who is holding more than 10% of the Company there to interfere with their plans and future operations. WOULD YOU??
Besides, if they don't reach the minimum of the 90% holdings, they will be forced to run the Company as a separate entity to their own. Not a very good way of doing investings and expansions.

"(for those without the luxury of broadband, here is what I was referring to -

'Asciano recently received a range of confidential, non-binding, incomplete proposalsto recapitalise the business and/or acquire one or more of Asciano's operating business units. None of these proposals involved a takeover bid, merger scheme or any offer to acquire the staple securities of existing security holders'

Thanks for that mik01. But the point remains that we have not been advised of the offers and in which ways they were lodged. All we know is, that the Board rejected them altogether, after spending many months, and leading us up the garden path.

If they say that it wasn't any good, (AND THEY DIDN'T), why don't they say what the offers were?? NO. I DON'T BELIVE IT.

    Good luck,

    Buddy
