The majority of Australians or overseas visitors (when we have any of the latter) choose airlines other than QAN or subsidiary Jetstar when travelling to/from Oz overseas.
However, not only is QAN expecting a loss of more than $2 billion in 2020-21, but this morning it's announced that from July 2022, it will cut international ticket sale commissions from five to a measly one per cent.
If I was a travel agent, I'd simply encourage vacationers and business travellers to use other airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, United, Philippine Airlines, All Nippon Airways and a host of others.
What a shortsighted move by QAN, even though its mired in debt and very vulnerable to any rise in interest rates.
