Your comment offers nothing but a statement of political ideology. It is not supported by the available facts.

1. NZ has successfully executed a National (fibre) Broadband Strategy, nothing ideological to do with it.
2. Despite misleading and self serving comments about "but Australia is big blah blah" the fact is that the Australian network challenge is comparable to NZ. The top 20 cities in Australia cover something like 95% of the population. The Australian network is a simple hub and spoke design. There was Never any intention to cover the Australian landscape in Fibre.
3. The original design would have been broadly supportive of Telstra's share price by supporting innovation (higher margin services) rather than the bottom end commodity service. The revised design effectively sucked $20-$30 margin out of each service by creating overhead that delivered nothing. Profitability of the whole Australian telco sector has been trashed.

It's hard to be profitable when the wholesale provider eats sector revenue and performs like a sick animal. I'm happy to have an extended conversation on this but please let's stick to facts and not political ideology or Murdoch talking points.
