I think the arguments against the Chinese bid are mostly ideological - Australian investors believe that Australia would be better served by keeping this asset in house. I tend to agree even though I'm not Australian. The truth of the matter is that although named Rare Earths, these elements are not rare at all, and push come to shove, with enough $$$ thrown at the issue, other sites can and will be developed when the price of REEs justify the investment.

Wrt to Lynas, as investors the bottom line is the bottom line, and at this time there is no better (or any) offer on the table and I believe the FIRB will approve.
