No offense, but if you payed by cheque, then get a cheque back, fair 'nough.( And how it would get there in time, with AP being the new slow beast?).
But nowdays, if we pay by B-pay, then the funds can bounce back as quick as they were accepted.
As earlier stated, I Bpayed on the day before it closed early, got scaled back. Cool, OK.
The funds will come, I'm sure, but it shouldn't take this long. The allocation is done, the numbers are all there.

P.S. B-pay does not take 1-3 days. Its seconds. And soon to be law.
