It appears commonplace to sponsor a piece these days with the journos responsible doing a simple cut and paste without any editorial input.
In Canada this practice is now hard to get away with,post Bre-X, with their legislation over 'forward looking staements'.
I noted in the show bags we received at Diggers that the various mining monthlies are all into this practice-just another version of an add without any independent analysis.
Oh well.
As to the Financial Review- well it is too expensive, chocker block full of property related crud, and concentrates on the top 50 stocks with no analysis/commentary. In terms of mining it rarely goes outside of BHP,RIO, WMR, Alumina,NCM, WPL, Santos, and when it does it is only to the next level down, eg HDR occasssionally, AWE, OXR, PMM and one or two others. The journos are good, the editors suck.
Save your money Gerry, you can get the gist of their articles on the web summary anyway!
