Summary:
The anti-inflammatory drug hydroxychloroquine does not significantly reduce admission to intensive care or death in patients hospitalized with pneumonia due to COVID-19, finds a study from France. And a randomized clinical trial from China shows that hospitalized patients with mild to moderate persistent covid-19 who received hydroxychloroquine did not clear the virus more quickly than those receiving standard care.

Conclusions: In patients hospitalized with COVID-19, hydroxychloroquine was not associated with reductions in 28-day mortality but was associated with an increased length of hospital stay and increased risk of progressing to invasive mechanical ventilation or death.

info on the WEHI trial. Results not until late this year. Note this is a trial of HCQ as a prophylactic, not a treatment.
obviously it could take a long time to gather data with the relatively low infection rate in Oz. But it also implies that fast-tracked trials are possibly of less merit.
