Small business owner here - should I buy stocks as my company, or as an individual?

    Hi Everyone,

I run a small business and I'm looking to invest some of my cash flow into stocks as a buy and hold strategy.

I've received differing information on whether I should buy stocks through the company itself, or if I should pay myself additional salary and invest that money as an individual.

The business is not in finance, nor does it intend to operate as an investment company, but I've been told there may be some tax advantages of owning the stock through my company as opposed to me as an individual including the lower tax rate.

It is a Pty Ltd company with me being the sole director.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
