They are saying that from a community perspective there is a “value” of contribution. For example a teacher educates our young. Nurses care for the sick. It’s not controversial, I know a high up big four guy (c-suite) that said they struggled with defining a purpose for what they do (eg we minimise tax is not that inspirational).
