Why would you short Tassals *now*?, page-631

@Hopeful9 - You were on the earnings call, do you remember what Mark said about Coles? Was it a client they hoped to maintain or expand? I didn't think that Tassal had the major distribution of both major supermarkets, but that definitely seems to be the case now. Just trying to work out if this is an expansion of their current distribution.

My understanding as it stands now:

• Woolworths fresh salmon (deli, white label) is supplied by Tassals.
• Woolworths stocks Huon and Tassal branded fresh salmon - and I think they do have De Costi in there under the Salamanca label presumably in some of the supermarkets only.
• Coles fresh salmon (deli, white label) is also now supplied by Tassals. I thought this previously was John West and Tassals, but from their current online shopping you can see it refers to 'responsibly sourced since 2015' which is when WWF / Coles accredited Tassals. I feel this is a new arrangement in the past couple of months only.
• Coles sells John West branded fresh salmon as well as Huon. They don't stock Tassals. So maybe this is the new arrangement.
• Costco are Tassals now too - that I'm quite sure is new.
• Aldi remains a Bender (Huon)
• IGA have no allegiance.

Smoked salmon is different. Tassals is available basically everywhere, except Costco and Aldi that are Norwegian imports. I think you can generally pick and choose from Tassal, Huon and imported. None of the majors have their own white label smoked salmon, but at the Coles deli you can buy bulk smoked salmon which is Tassals.

Anyway that's enough online shopping for one night. Anyone else got time to do some scuttlebutt, much appreciated. Seems like there could be some good announcements on the domestic wholesale distribution which is where the large bucks are.
