There was some scuttlebuck floating around about the Perth Mint not having enough gold to supply but that was put to bed some time ago. Don't believe everything that you read on the internet.
When Governments act to ban citizens from holding gold you will know all about it and that may yet happen. They will not confiscate but pay you out at a defined price (which is probably reasonable at the time but since they will give you fiat currency, you will be deflated soon enough).
