The Australian Greens are calling for a boycott of James Hardie products until the community is satisfied the company is meeting its liabilities to victims of asbestos products.
James Hardie Industries has been accused by asbestos victims' groups of avoiding its responsibilities by short-changing its compensation fund and forming a new parent company in The Netherlands.
The company is also the subject of a NSW Special Commission of Inquiry into its actions, which is due to report next month.
The Senate on Monday will debate the boycott after Kerry Nettle (AG, NSW) gave notice of a motion.
Senator Nettle said Labor had asked her to postpone her motion until Monday while they considered supporting it.
As well as seeking a boycott, the motion will ask the federal government to ensure James Hardie Industries pays full and fair compensation.
It will also call on parties to pass on any political donations received from James Hardie to a trust fund for asbestos victims and their families.
"All parties apart from the Greens have received donations and we hope that all parties will do the right thing and give the money to the victims and their families," Senator Nettle said.
