Half-time round-up:
Australian stock indexes gave back Friday's gains during a broad sell-off this morning.
At lunchtime the ASX 200 was down 37 points or 0.98% at 3757. Defensive sectors fared better than most, with utilities up 0.3%, telecoms at -0.1% and consumer staples at -0.3%.
Asian markets sank in morning trade. The Nikkei was down 1.02% and the Hang Seng 1.96%. Dow futures were recently at -21. Crude oil futures were 10 cents higher.
It has been a low-key morning here due to gratuitous beer drinking and karaoke yesterday arvo. Just one gone-nowhere trade in MAP. Disappointed I missed PLA and KAR - two no-brainers. Well done to those who caught them.
Thanks for the feedback this morning, guys - always interested in ways to improve these "wraps". Val, I'll give your suggestion some thought when thinking hurts less...
